Iowa State Patrol has released the names of those involved in a deadly crash Sunday night on I-80 in Johnson County.

It happened just before 9:30 p.m. near mile marker 234 which is between Oxford and Tiffin.

State patrol said 32 year old Stephen Lucore of Iowa City, was headed eastbound in the westbound lanes when he crashed head-on with 31 year old David Sawyer of Frisco, Texas.

David's passenger, 64 year old Robert Sawyer of Nocona, Texas, was flown to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where he died from his injuries. 58 year old Mercedes Quevas, who was also in the car, was flown to the hospital for her injuries.

Lucore was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

A third car driven by Michael Griffin, 34, of Memphis, Tennessee, hit some debris from the initial crash.

It's unclear as to why Lucore was going the wrong direction. The crash is still under investigation.
