Bruce Teague is the newest member of Iowa City Council.
He won Tuesday night's election for the open at-large seat.
He earned 54 percent of the vote compared to Ann Freerks' 45 percent.
Only about 10 percent of voters, or about four thousand people, cast a ballot.
Teague replaces Kingsley Botchway on the city council. He resigned in July after taking a new job with the Waterlooo School District.
