ICPD Investigate Shots Fired at Marketplace

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Iowa City police are investigating after someone shot at and hit the former Sycamore Mall, now known as the Iowa City Marketplace.

Authorities were called to the scene at 1660 Sycamore Street around 4:00 p.m. Monday for a report of shots fired outside the building.

Officers discovered shell casings and found bullets had made contact with the exterior of the commercial structure.

Authorities say they haven't discovered any evidence to indicate the shooter was trying to hit someone.

As of Monday evening, Investigators were conducting interviews with individuals who may have been connected to the shooting.

Authorities expected to release more information around 8:00 p.m. that night.
