Heavy Rain Expected Today

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Today will be a wet one, and if you direct a marching band or coach a fall sport, it's an indoor drill day. There's really no way around it as a slow-moving area of low pressure moves east along the Iowa/Missouri state line. This track will pull plenty of moisture to the north and make for a widespread rain across eastern Iowa today. By late evening, the system finally starts to pull away, which should lower the rain chances somewhat after midnight.

Rainfall amounts near or over one inch remain likely in all areas by the time it wraps up, with some isolated spots receiving much more than that.

Tuesday should be a dry day with cool air blowing in from the northwest.
