Arguments Begin Friday in Fetal Heartbeat Ban Stop

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A judge in Polk County will hear arguments tomorrow on whether to temporarily bar Iowa's fetal heartbeat law.

This law is set to take effect July 1 and would be the most restrictive in the country regarding access to abortion. It would ban most abortions as early as six weeks into a pregnancy, or once a doctor detects a fetal heartbeat.

Planned Parenthood and the Emma Goldman Clinic in Iowa City filed a lawsuit claiming the law is unconstitutional.
