Morgan Lohan Signs with Hawkeyes

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa men’s tennis head coach Ross Wilson announced on Thursday that Morgan Lohan has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Iowa. Lohan is a transfer from N.C. State, competing in six singles matches and four doubles matches in the fall as a freshman.

 

“Morgan has been one of the best players in Ireland throughout his tennis career and he is an exceptional student,” said Wilson. “When Morgan arrives on campus this summer we expect him to make an immediate impact on our team.”

 

Lohan has extensive international playing experience as a prep. The Tramore, Ireland, native is a five-time Irish national singles champion and four-time Irish national team selection, includingrepresenting Ireland at the European Championships. Lohan is a four-time Irish Open champion and ranked number one in singles nationally U 10/12/14/16/18.

 

Lohan was the 2016 Belfast City ITF doubles champion and U23 Irish close champion. He was a semifinalist at the 2016 San Michel ITF tournament in Malta and Dundalk ITF Junior Tournament. Lohan was the U16 Irish Open doubles champion and U14 Irish Open mixed doubles champion. Lohan also was a singles finalist at the ITF Pajulahit Cup in 2015.

 

Iowa’s 2018-19 roster will have student-athletes from six different countries (United States, Denmark, Ireland, United Kingdom, Poland, and United Arab Emirates).
