Sanctuary Cities Bill Moves Ahead

A bill that would void all sanctuary city ordinances in Iowa,  inhibiting federal immigration enforcement has cleared its first subcommittee vote in the Iowa House.

The Public Safety subcommittee approved the bill, which was already passed by the Iowa Senate last April.

t would apply to all local entities including school districts, and deny state funding for roads, grants, community college funding, and economic development, among others.

There's no total estimate how much it could cost offending communities and school districts.
