CR Man Charged with Attempted Murder

Police say he shot his wife, then stabbed himself, before authorities found him. And now that Marc Campbell is out of the hospital, he's in the Linn County jail.

Campbell now faces charges of attempted murder, willful injury causing serious injury and possessing a firearm as a felon. Doctors released the 42-year-old from the hospital on Wednesday.

Police say on Saturday, Campbell shot his wife 28-year-old Kameesha Nathaniel while inside their apartment at 435 Ashton Place Northeast around 8:30 p.m. That's when Nathaniel ran to an apartment at 515 Ashton Place. First responders took her to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Authorities do not have the extent of Nathaniel's injuries, but say she is expected to recover.

Police say there was a secondary shooting in the parking lot about the same time, and the two incidents appear to be related.

Officers then found Campbell at 541 Ashton Place. They say he stabbed himself in the chest. Emergency crews took him to UnityPoint St. Luke's for his injuries.
