Dubuque Man Leads High-Speed Chase

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A Dubuque man is facing drug charges after he led police on a high speed chase Thursday afternoon.

36-year-old Jason Schumacher is charged with drug possession with intent to deliver, eluding, interference with official acts, and multiple traffic violations.

According to a news release, Dubuque County Sheriff's investigators attempted to stop a vehicle Schumacher was driving in the Super 20 Mobile Home Park just before 3 p.m. Schumacher drove off at a high rate of speed, leaving the trailer park and heading east on North Cascade Road. He continued on Whitetop Road, Military Road, and Key West Drive before losing control on Rockdale Drive. The vehicle crashed into a CenturyLink service shed just west of Leonard Funeral Home.

Investigators said speeds during the chase exceeded 100 miles per hour.

After the crash, Schumacher ran off, with deputies in pursuit. They captured him after a short chase.

An ambulance took a passenger in the vehicle to the hospital for treatment, who was then released.
