DeWitt Trail Set for December

JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A judge has ruled a man facing charges for hiring someone to kill a business associate and the associate's family is competent to stand trial.

Justin DeWitt of North Liberty faces four charges of attempted murder and four counts of solicitation to commit murder.

Last summer, police say he tried to hire an undercover agent to kill his coworker and the co-workers' family, including children.

Then later in the year while in jail investigators say DeWitt tried to hire another inmate to kill a Public Safety Department Agent and two other people.

DeWitt's next court appearance is scheduled for December.
