Willis Dady Shelter Clean Up

Those displaced by a microwave fire at the Willis Dady Homeless Shelter in Cedar Rapids returned yesterday. Restoration crews brought in big fans and dehumidifiers. While they worked, the folks staying there had to go somewhere else. That's where Mission of Hope came in. Their shelter squeezed in the people that Willis Dady couldn't handle.

With the kitchen unusable at the moment, local churches and other volunteers are providing meals to help during the interim. The organization is waiting on an insurance estimate before deciding whether or not to put out a call for funds to help repair the fire damage.
